June 10, 1924) DBW4807 It's noon on the 12th of April, there she sits at a small cafe waiting for her husband. He's late but she is not upset. She sits at their regular table staring at her watch, a beautiful white gold filled watch which she got for their 8th anniversary. It has 8 emeralds on the face and band and drapes perfectly over her elegant wrist.. or is it the watch that makes her wrist so elegant, either way the minutes pass perfectly as the 8 stones, a stone for every year that they have been wed, sparkle in her eyes. She just had it cleaned and serviced last week and it keeps time perfectly. Although it is very Art Deco looking, it was actually made just before the art deco exhibition (1925) and at the end of the Edwardian era so it is considerd Transitional. The face is pristine and is a creamy white. She suddenly drifts off in memory of the card that accompanied the gift box, "I love you all the time." He scored points for that one. She then opens the clasp which fits her 6 and 1/4" wrist. She prefers opening it at the back because it is easier than the connection at the head of the watch. She is staring closer at the emeralds that dance in the night. The 15 jewel manual winding mechanism attaches to a beautiful sapphire stem. As he walks in the door she gets lost in his green eyes, eyes that are almost as green as the emeralds. He says "I'm sorry I'm late." She then closes the clasp and replies with a smile "Late? You are right on time." Excellent condition. Price $795.00

You could have blown me away with a feather when I first saw this gorgeous gleaming platinum and diamond watch. It is magnificent! And rare? Oh my Goodness!! Remember the depression? Well, the lady that owned this jewel apparently didn't suffer much! It is very rare to find a 4 carat diamond watch from the depression era! It has 142 sparkling high quality diamonds adding up to a full 4 carats of blitz. Sassy's best guess is that it is from the 1940s The outstanding diamond encrusted lugs are to die for! And although the face was difficult to photograph without a backshine, the face is actually very easy to read in real life and super super clean. It has been kept in a vault for approximately 60 or 70 years and it is times like this that I wish I, Sassy, made exceptions for the word 'mint'. I have never used that word in a writeup but boy, am I tempted to use it now! It is in amazing fabulous super clean condition. The mechanism has been cleaned, oiled, gone over with a fine tooth comb, and adjusted. It keeps time beautifully. The band is made of platinum and there are 11 fabulous platinum and diamond links with 7 diamonds each and 9 connecting links with 3 diamonds each. To call this watch beautiful or outstanding is certainly an understatement. It is one of the nicest ones I have ever had the privilege of owning. Excellent condition. Price $9,999.00 SOLD |
