VICTORIAN MOURNING JEWELRY, MOURNING BRACELET, WHITBY JET MOURNING NECKLACE, ANTIQUE JET MOURNING JEWELRY, HAIR MOURNING JEWELRY, ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HALF-MOURNING TORTOISE SHELL JEWELRY below.
Victorian mourning jewelry is highly collectible. First mourning jewelry is black and
made of jet, dyed horn, Vulcanite, and other imitation jet substances. Half- mourning
includes tortoise shell which was worn during the second year of mourning. In 1861
when Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband, died, mourning jewelry became very
popular. Victoria mourned his death for the rest of her life limiting her wardrobe to
black. Now, collectors look for high quality pieces that are still in excellent condition..
certainly hard to find but Sassy's pickers are constantly looking for the authentic jet
necklaces and bracelets and other mourning jewelry. HOME PAGE

MOURNING

HAIR BRACELET

Victorian 15K Gold Hair Bracelet (tests positive for 15K gold & signed TCT to LJC) Item FVBR8560 What an incredible find! Circa 1860s to 1880s, this unusual and rare Victorian hair bracelet has intricate engravings in its lustrous 15K gold setting. Occasionally, Sassy runs across a Victorian hair bracelet but one with a pink PASTE (vocabulary) stone ? HAH! A rich and luxurious pink paste stone mimicking a pink tourmaline sits at its center disguising the push clasp. 120 to 140 years old, the stone has acceptable tiny flea bites along its edges and Sassy had the top of the stone polished professionally. It is bezel set and the engravings around the stone are tiny plumes which cover all three parts of the gold. Just slightly over 5 and 3/4" long, and worn by a petite Lady as a mourning bracelet made with the hair of her loved one. Amazing workmansip in the braiding and in the outstanding gold work, it comes from an estate in England. It is 15.6 grams gold and the hair is a rich chestnut brown with only minute fraying. This is the most outstanding hair bracelet Sassy has ever had the pleasure of owning. Excellent condition. Price $885.00

TORTOISE SHELL

STERLING PIQUE

BRACELET

Victorian Tortoise Shell Sterling Pique Heart Bracelet (not signed) Item VFBRVFN8699 A gorgeous large tortoise shell heart is set with a pretty, four-petal sterling silver flower that curves and dances coyly at its center. Circa 1890s, this imposing curvy genuine tortoise shell centerpiece is flanked on either side by three rectangular curved tortoise shell panels. While this bracelet alone is simply stunning and very very rare, Sassy has a surprise for you! Although not a perfect match, this gorgeous bracelet came from the same collector's estate that the Victorian Tortoise Sterling Pique Heart & Flower Necklace Item VFN8665 came from on page 1 of fine necklaces. Alone, the bracelet is gorgeous. Both together make for a delightful set that garners loads of admiration and jealous stares. The bracelet is 6 and 1/4" long and closes with its original tortoise hook clasp! You may be in love with your spouse or significant other but you will be madly in love with this incredible and very rare antique Victorian bracelet. It's a beauty!! Excellent condition. JET CAMEO

MOURNING

BRACELET

1840s to 1850s

Art Deco Jet Cameo Mourning Bracelet Item VBCBR92911 This fabulous jet cameo bracelet is early Victorian and is from the 1840s to 1850s. It is OVER 150 years old and the workmanship is exceptional. A carving of a classic lady with a straight Roman nose and upswept hairdo sits at the center of a domed oval background. The intricately carved link bracelet has so much detail, I am not sure I can describe it. Let me try though. Each rectangular link has a diamond shape in the middle which is divided into 4 parts. Each part has carved dots in rows and the rows are divided into triangles. And that's not all....Well, you are just going to have to see it in person. This very very rare bracelet fits a 6 and 3/4" to 7 and 1/4" wrist and is near perfect. There is a tiny 1/16" place on one of the 16 links that is missing its 3 dots. This 150 year old bracelet (think about that!) has been professionally restrung at Sassy Classics and I, Sassy, know you will never find another one like it! Excellent condition. Price $645.00 SOLD

JET CAMEOS

MOURNING

NECKLACE

Rare Victorian Jet Cameo Mourning Necklace (not signed) Item FVCN6945 In the Victorian Era, during the time of Queen Victoria's mourning for her beloved husband, jewelry made of Jet became not only required court attire but the influence of the Queen's court mandate made it fashionable wear for daily life. This unbelievably beautiful, ornately carved circa 1860s Jet cameo necklace is a museum quality example of the skilled artisanship of the Victorian Age. A massive chain of hexagonal links with faceted edging is joined by huge ovals with faceted edges and intricately etched and carved designs. This necklace is a piece of artistic mastery, which is further evidenced by the three astounding cameos ( etched on both sides of each one) suspended from vertically aligned circle rings attached to the grandiose chain. Take a look at the closeup of the cameos. This family of fine ladies remain eternally vigilant and at the ready for the occasion when the Queen might call for their service. In the interim, they wait at your beckoned call to serve you as elegant attendants to your own beauty. These lovely ladies come bearing gifts! Each one of your ladies-in-waiting has an engraved rose on her cameo's flipside giving this necklace incredible versatility and unlimited potential. The center cameo is 2 and 1/4" long and dangles 3 and 1/4" while the smaller adjacent cameos are 1 and 7/8" long. The 20" long chain still has its original hidden push clasp intact and it still works very well. This cameo necklace has some minor scratches here and there which is entirely appropriate for a piece that is over 140 years old and attests to its authenticity. The fact that it has survived virtually unscathed to the 21st century is a testament to the overall craftsmanship and durability of this rare Victorian necklace. Possess a fascinating piece with great historical significance and startling beauty when you purchase this very rare Victorian Jet cameo necklace. Excellent condition. Price $1800.00 SOLD
