$345.00 J E CALDWELL PINK GOLD
GILT OVER 800
SILVER Art Deco Pink Gold Gilt
Swimmer (signed JEC and tests positive for 800 silver)
Item DTF8039 Gorgeous! And pedigreed, too. Sassy
believes this svelte swimmer has the hallmark of J E
Caldwell, (signed JEC) the famous Philadelphia platinum
jeweler founded in 1839.
Here a Deco diva dives for the deep end of glamour in an
almost 4 and ½" long pink faint gold gilt over
800 silver brooch.
Dating from the late 1920s to 1930s, when Busby Berkeley was
designing human waterfalls and Mrs. Irving Thalberg, wife of
the studio head was swimming twice a day to maintain her
star looks, the brooch is a beautifully conceived jewel that
is strikingly original, very haute couture and witty, all in
the same breath. Sparkling stones accent her proper bathing
attire and the piece is a svelte15/16" wide at the widest
place. What a fabulous rare signature look. Excellent
condition. Price $399.00 Sterling Roses in
Frames Parure (signed sterling and earrings are signed 1/20
10k on sterling) Item VSP8069 Sculptural, arty and
feminine! Wrought sterling parure evokes the Bohemian
garnets of the 1940s in a sophisticated luxe condo way. When
Michael and Frances Higgins were starting their life as art
glass masters together and handmade, artistic sensibility
was a reaction to the mechanized Deco decade, that is in the
late 1930s or the early 1940s, some very skilled jeweler
crafted this stunning set. A necklace of roses designed as
individual frames encircles your pretty throat in a 15 and
½" long and 7/8" wide necklace. At the front, each one
is connected only at the top to frame your face perfectly.
The sides are attached at top and bottom to keep it close to
the sides. The matching bracelet is 7 and 1/4" long with the
same architectural design. Both necklace and bracelet are
7/8" wide and both close with classy hidden push clasps.
True to their arty heritage, niello finish enhances the
bracelet and necklace. Sassy is also including a pair of
earrings with matching roses. Even though they were
purchased at the same Scottsdale estate, she doesn't think
they are by the same jeweler but they have the exact same
roses and the same arty, feminine feeling. It's a thank you
gift from Sassy to you. Boho is back and the art auctions
reach new heights every year. Collectors are scrambling for
fine examples for their collections. Top of the list has got
to be this sterling parure. Sculptural in concept, feminine
roses motif, sublime jewel art for the connoisseur.
