Made circa late 1930s to early 1940s at the height of the retro modern era. That's Sassy's favorite era. And it represents a style that came right after the Art Deco movement and is sometimes called art deco retro or retro modern or just plain retro. The ring is quite unusual in that it is composed of a center area that mimics a diamond engagement ring yet it is surrounded with lustrous 14K pink gold and 14 red Burmese rubies. Side View. The center part has 5 diamonds, all set in platinum. This platinum glitz around the diamonds in addition to the diamonds themselves makes the ring look like a higher carat weight. The diamonds include 1 sparkling center diamond and 2 smaller diamonds on each side for a total of 1/4 carat diamonds. Of course the beautiful rubies make the pink gold look even pinker. This gorgeous antique ring could certainly be used as an engagement ring or wedding ring but it also doubles as an outstanding dinner ring. And it is highly collectible. Art Deco Diamond and Emerald 14K Ring (tests + for 14K gold) Item VR8533 This outstanding antique 14K white gold diamond and emerald ring was made in the 1930s. And it is so gorgeous it will take your breath away. It can be worn as an engagement ring or a dinner ring. It is ornate with a beautiful openwork design and it has 3 beautiful white clear diamonds and 2 emeralds set in a design that seems to magnify their sizes. Each stone is surrounded with white gold architectural rings that enhance the size of the diamonds. The diamonds add up to a little over 1/10 carat and they are flanked with 2 emerald cut baguettes which add up to 1/8 carat. This design is classic art deco and it is guaranteed to be authentically old (not a repro). It is 7/8" long and 7/16" wide. It came from an estate in Scottsdale, Arizona and was worn as an engagement/wedding ring. The ring is currently a size 4 and 1/2 and can be resized to any size by Sassy's jeweler (Sassy will pick up the tab).
