CARVED JET

CROSS

*****NEW LISTING*****

Victorian Carved Jet Mourning Cross Item VC9136 Be proud of your faith and show it by wearing this stunning Victorian Jet Mourning Cross. Circa 1850s to 1890s. You will also be showing your good fashion sense! This is one of the prettiest crosses I have ever worn in my life. I love crosses; I am a Christian and I like letting other people know about it. I don't bug people, and I don't proseletize. Instead, I like to try to show them by my good Christian works, and if that doesn't work because I have fallen short, by my jewelry! (*_*) This laboriously complicated carved Victorian jet cross is an outstanding work of art. It must have taken the accomplished artist painstaking hours and days to create this masterpiece. Intricately-formed flower buds, petals and vines cover the cross and are carved in high relief. Each flower is slightly different from the next which can only come from hand carving. There are elongated spikey leaves holding the flower buds on each side while the buds are beautiful smooth spirals that add dimension and again each one is different from the next. The center flower is a flower in full bloom with its petals wide open. The cross with its ring at the top is a full 3" long by 1 and 5/8" wide and can be worn on a gold or silver chain. Circa mid to late 1800s. It's absolutely gorgeous and very rare. Excellent condition. Price $450.00

BRACELET

*****NEW LISTING*****

Edwardian Paste Bracelet Item VBR2168 Sandwiched between the sentimentality of the Victorian age and the clean, geometric lines of Art Deco was the Edwardian era, a brief period of absolutely magnificent design and fashion. Circa 1890s to the 19teens. Gas lamps were giving way to electric lights and suddenly it made good sense to take advantage of the newly bright nights by sparkling as much as one could. Pastes (vocabulary) like these were all the rage and set in the most ornate and marvelous settings imaginable! This absolutely stunning example of Edwardian glamour will set the night on fire, even if the electric lights have been dimmed for the sake of atmosphere. Featuring 4 decorated links, each crusted with fine brilliant pastes, separated with triple bars of pastes. The scrolling yet subtly geometric shapes hint at the Deco era to come but are still firmly planted in a time of pure romance and sentiment. Not exactly innocent - too much sparkle for that kind of naiveté' - but most certainly feminine and alluring, if not downright seductive. It measures 6 and 3/4" long and is t 9/16" wide (a little over 1/2") and ends in a hidden box push clasp. Completely beguiling when worn alone but when the evening calls for even more glitz, it is perfectly gorgeous keeping company with many other sparkling jewels, the way ladies of that era used to really play up their newly bared arms! Many of the nicest pieces of this era were dismantled over time and turned into buckles or dress clips or brooches so bracelets of this quality and enduring beauty are becoming quite scarce. Sassy is thrilled to offer such a magnificent ornament to adorn a very lucky lady! Excellent condition. Price $267.00 SOLD

GAUNTLET

Rare Wide Antique Tortoise & Sterling Cuff Item VFBR9057 Classic chic has never looked so good! This Victorian Era Tortoise shell bracelet is so rare and gorgeous, I'm beginning to wonder if the designer was privy to a glimpse into the future of modern high fashion. Created circa 1880s when sterling on tortoise was popular, this Victorian bracelet is made of rare and highly collectible tortoise shell. This incredible material has a stunning pattern of streaks and has a smooth, glossy surface. What's most astounding is the design. A young boy works hard in his parents garden. This is before the labor laws of course. The super wide 2 and 1/16" bracelet has a beautiful design carved completely from a single continuous length of tortoise shell. This stellar creation reminds you of sharp, retro mod pieces and being made from tortoise shell means that it's a one of a kind original without equal. The opening is a generous 1 and 1/4" and the gauntlet is 2 and 3/4" in diameter made for a slightly larger wrist. The flexibility and durability of this bracelet can easily be seen. After all, it's survived more than a century of wear by other fascinated historical women for ages. The sterling figure is attached with a brad at the center. This exceedingly rare, top of the line antique makes you consider not eating for a couple of months to be able to own it. Stylish never looked so good. Excellent condition. Price $525.00

It is 3/4" tall and it is 2 and 3/8" in oval diameter so it will fit almost any wrist. The garnets go all the way around. Since it is oval shaped, the centerpiece stays on the top of the wrist where it belongs. Excellent condition. Price $699.00 SOLD

14K GOLD

CAMEO

Edwardian 14K Gold Cameo (tests positive for 14K gold or higher) Item VC7592 A chaperoned trip to the Continent was the equivalent to a college education for a young lady in the Edwardian Era. What a way to learn, no need to take notes, just absorb the culture, old and new. Circa late 1800s to early 1900s, this magnificent cameo bespeaks of the Edwardian fascination with the Classical world. And who wouldn't be fascinated with the ancient world with antiquities such as this? Rare large cameo measuring 2" by 1 and 5/8" is a not to be missed artifact and perhaps a wealthy debutante's keepsake of her Italian trip. The closer you get the more gorgeous details you see. A stunning 14K rich openwork frame surrounds the exquisite carved portrait. An ancient Sassy Lady is depicted with allurements of her time. Flowers on her gown, her hair is coifed with feathers and tendrils fall onto her tender neck. Her gown drapes seductively from a feathered shoulder strap on one side and flowers holding up the other side. And those clever Edwardian jewelers think of everything. The all 14K gold findings include a pin and flip up pendant bale so you can wear it either way. True to late 1800s style, the pin is longer than the width of the cameo, so watch your delicate fingers tips. Rare circa late 1800s to early 1900s cameo portrait is a keepsake of classic beauty. With 14K gold and stunning details in the carving, a very large size, it's a breathtaking beauty. Magnificent. Excellent condition. Price $1125.00

NECKLACE

Cameo Habille Flapper with Diamond Comb and Necklace (signed 14K) Item VC6934 Isn't this a remarkable piece? The idealized women that are represented in Cameo Habilles are most often Grecian figures from mythological tales, but this unbelievable Art Deco cameo features a fabulous Flapper in full regalia. Bobbed hair was in and foreheads were out as you can see with obvious clarity in this impressive relief carving. Our glamorous Flapper girl wears a diamond in her hair and a a great big diamond in her necklace (1/10 of a carat). Flappers were notoriously scandalous and wild women who loved sex and sexiness with youthful vigor. What a vamp our innocent looking seductress must have been to get these swanky jewels. Including the frame, this 2" long by 1" wide carved shell cameo sits within a girdle of 2 twisted 14K gold strands. The lower strand is wide and the overlying strand is narrower. The vivacious vixen sits in relief with both arms fully bared and a wonderful draping low cut gown. If it weren't for these daring ladies, who knows where we women would be today? They broke barriers and demanded their rights to sexual freedom. Antique Wired Floral Bangle and Earrings Set (not signed) Item VBBR8743 Funk is fine, glitz is groovy, understated is...well, understated. But sometimes you need an 'Upstairs Downstairs' kind of thing going on with your jewels, and at the moment, we're Upstairs. In the drawing room, to be exact, sipping sherry and explaining to mummy and daddy why women ought to be allowed to vote, drive motor cars, and smoke cigarettes. Your astonishingly divine celluloid floral bracelet and earring set is so right for your perky but elegant personality. The opaque pastel celluloid flowres coupled with the delightful metal vines that wrap around the edges are at once classic and rather cheeky. This is a type of elegance that doesn't take itself too seriously; there's a subtle playfulness about it that is charming, beautiful, and utterly feminine. Circa 1920s, Sassy believes it is most likely Czechoslovakian. The flowers are cornflower blue, lemon yellow, orange, baby blue, mint green, pink, and lavender.  And it is a showy, dramatic 2 and 3/4" across and 1 and 3/8" wide! No chips or cracks. And the sides have little flowers too. Everything is wired onto the base beautifully! Earrings are screwbacks and are original to the set. They are a little over 3/4" in diameter and have a red flower right in the center of them just to add a little pizzazz. Excellent condition. Price $297.00 SOLD

ROSE GOLD!!

ART DECO Amethysts, Diamonds, and Pink Gold Watch (signed Touchon Watch Co., 14K gold, 17 Jewels, adjusted to temperature, Swiss) Item DTW6051 My Dear Bunny, May I send you my congratulations on this your birthday? I am also sending a little token of my best wishes for you, not only for today, but for many years to come. Affectionately Yours, Hunter Farleigh.

Dear Mr. Farleigh, I thank you for the watch. I know the Dowager Duchess will be impressed when I wear it to dinner tonight. A gift such as this certainly conveys the sincerity of your affection. The jewels embellishing this lovely timepiece are a marvel! Branson, I counted the diamonds and there are 18 of them, that's as many months as I've known you, my dear amour! (2/3 carats of diamonds). Truesdale tells me that 17 jewels are keeping the mechanism in perfect time and it is even adjusted for temperature. So when we meet at the gate house after dinner, the frost won't disrupt the watch's time keeping ability and it will even keep time at our hide-away even though it usually gets fairly hot. The face is beautiful and the Amethysts (5 carats) are outstandingly passionate, huge, gorgeous and sparkling! And that 14K pink gold snake band is wonderful. You seem to know what to do at all the right times, you sly bounder. It fits my 6 and 7/8" wrist and the (original) face is so easy to read I shall cherish this token and look forward to seeing you at Mr. March's upcoming dinner party. Your little Bunny.

Sassy's staff cleaned, oiled and adjusted the watch. Write your own steamy romance in this incredibly rare, drop dead gorgeous, art deco bejeweled pink gold watch. An affair with beauty you'll enjoy for many exciting rendezvous. Excellent condition. Price $3600.00

This dreamy dress clip is 2" by 1 and 3/8" and closes with a clip. This beauty may be a Miriam Haskell but am not sure. So think of it as a gorgeous very old colorful bouquet. It will bring a little ray of sunshine to any day! Excellent condition. Price $165.00
